What is the FR44 filing?

The FR44 filing was created by the State of Florida and is required if you have been convicted of a DUI.  The State of Florida is requiring you to have higher liability limits because your are considered high risk.  The FR44 filing certifies to the State that you have the required liability limits of 100/300 for bodily injury and $50,000 property damage.  The filing itself is attached to and auto policy and submitted electronically to the State of Florida when you purchase an FR44 insurance policy.  FR44 filings are usually required for three years from the date of conviction or suspension.  It is also important to note that you can not make payments on FR44 policies and per Florida State law they are required to be paid in full.
